What will my first session be like?
Depending on the services you choose, your first session will entail a thorough evaluation of your physical concerns and complete medical history (please bring this information with you). This will include filling out the patient forms listed above. Please have these completed prior to your appointment or arrive 15-20 minutes early.
Do you treat patients with severe health problems?
Absolutely! Dependent upon the condition, you may need a physician's permission form. From anything to fractures, internal damage, and pregnancy. Please notify us prior to your appointment of any of these conditions. Please note, pregnancy massages are given, however not in the first trimester. Medical history is very important as there are certain contraindications of massage for particular conditions. The goal of massage is to aid in the healing process with a variety of techniques. However, this shouldn't conflict with your existing health plan.
Do you help treat terminal or chronic illness?
I believe massage is incredibly invaluable to those suffering from chronic pain, illness, or are limited to a bed or wheelchair due to their condition. Patients who cannot exercise and move their muscles on their own will benefit highly from massage and stretching, to alleviate stiffness and prevent bed sores. I was inspired to go into massage with my sister-in-law in hospice care. Many in hospice or who have physical care providers do receive physical therapy to prevent muscle atrophy. But often times they lack the caring touch and closeness that comes from healthy and close relationships. With massage I can provide them physical relief but also comfort and healing emotionally.
